In an interview with Eyefox Prof. Dr. Dr. Robert Patrick Finger explains the work of the TOFU registry and why uveitis poses a particular challenge in everyday clinical practice.

At the end of 2024, funding was secured from the Dr. Rolf M. Schwiete Foundation, which will enable the imaging module to be expanded to include eight additional centers. As a result, a total of ten centers in the TOFU Registry will provide imaging data in the near future. The goal of the imaging module is to further develop imaging-based biomarkers for uveitis.

In addition to the existing TOFU Registry, a module for retinal imaging—which is performed as part of the routine care of registry participants—was launched in September 2020. The TOFU imaging module is available since June 2022. Only high-recruiting clinical sites are eligible to participate.

The TOFU database is active. Participating clinical sites are able to log-in via this link and enter their collected data.

The German Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) is funding the development and initial operation of a registry on non-infectious uveitis.
